Evidence That Physical Reality Is An Illusion

by Koda

The concept of infinity is fundamental to understanding the true nature of the world around us.  In the previous post I described how none of us have ever seen the world as it actually exists physically, and here I will provide evidence that physical reality does not exist at all – at least not in the way we thing it does.

The word “infinite” means unlimited, without end, without limit.

For example, the list of every possible odd number, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc., goes on forever.  No matter how many numbers you add to this list, there is always one more that can be added, and one more after that, forever and ever.  The list of all possible odd numbers is infinitely long.

The list of all possible even numbers is also infinitely long, for the same reason.

What happens when we combine all the odd and even numbers together?  The third list of numbers is twice as long, yet still the same length as the first two lists.

That makes no sense at all.  Reason tells us that nothing can be twice as long and the same length at the same time.

Instead of numbers, what would happen if we lined up an infinitely long line of apples?  That line of apples would stretch past the Moon, past the Sun, past the edge of the Milky Way galaxy and out beyond the edge of the observable universe — yet at that point the line of apples would only have covered an infinitely small part of the distance still left to travel.

Then we make an infinitely long line of oranges, and squeeze them into the line of apples so the apples and oranges alternate one after another.  This FORCES the new line to be physically twice as long as the first two lines, yet all three lines remain the same length – infinitely long – which is physically impossible.

What this tells us is that nothing physical can be infinite.  Infinity is a concept, an idea.

We could just leave it at that, but then we run into a problem when we ask how big the physical universe actually is.  The physical universe must be infinitely large, because if it isn’t, something else would have to exist beyond the edges of the physical universe, and that something would still be part of the physical universe because by definition, the universe contains everything.  And what would be beyond the “something” at the edge of the universe?  More something, more universe.  The physical universe must be infinitely large.

Some have argued that the physical universe could be curved, so if you travel long enough in one direction you will eventually arrive back where you started.  What they seem to overlook is that anything that curves has an edge or surface.  What is on the other side of that edge?  Nothing?  How far does that nothing extend?  An infinite distance.  The outer boundary of the physical universe would still be infinite.

All this may seem like nothing more than mental gymnastics but we are attempting to understand physical facts here.  Anyway you look at it the outer boundary of the physical universe is infinite, and infinity is physically impossible.  Infinity can only exist as an idea.

What happens when we look in the other direction, toward the infinitely small?

If we draw a line one-inch or about 2.5cm long, we can imagine cutting that line in half, and in half again, an infinite number of times.  What is the smallest amount of space that can exist?

In quantum mechanics they say that the smallest unit of space that can exist is the plank space.  This amount of space is so small that something that something not much larger than a grain of sand is halfway between a plank space and the size of the observable universe.  It is so small that if any energy at all existed within that space the energy would immediately form a tiny black hole where space itself would cease to exist.  Quantum mechanics also admits that when it comes to black holes their mathematics fail because all their calculations result in – wait for it – infinity.

Perhaps the scientific community should consider the possibility that their calculations are not wrong, that “something” exists at the center of black holes and that something is infinity — an idea.

From the infinite vastness of space to the infinitely small, from the infinite past to the infinite future, the boundaries of the physical universe, the places where our ability to perceive will forever come to an end, are infinity, an idea.  Our universe is contained inside the boundaries of infinity, and nothing physical can exist within an idea.  The only possible conclusion is that the physical universe itself is nothing but information in the form of concepts, ideas and “laws” governing the behavior of what appear to us as physical phenomena in space and time.  (Have you ever wondered how objects “know” how to follow the laws which govern their behavior?)

These “laws” governing our perception of reality must exist in a dimension of reality that is beyond what our physical senses can perceive.  The prefix “meta” means “beyond,” so the laws governing physical reality can be thought of as “metaphysical” or beyond the physical.  They are, however, very real.  They can be studied, or at least we can study their effects and strive to understand how things operate on a metaphysical level.

If you are still convinced that the world is as solid and real as it appears to be, you will need to come up with an explanation for how the universe can extend outward an infinite distance, knowing that is physically impossible.

When mainstream science finally accepts the fact that physical phenomena are a result of metaphysical processes, humanity will move to a new level of awareness where psychic phenomena and the nature of consciousness can be understood and taught in schools.  Awareness of our interconnectedness with each other and everything in the world around us will bring an end to greed and war — but I am getting ahead of myself.

The next post describes how time dilation caused by relativity more or less proves that each of us exist within our own bubble of reality rather than in a shared environment that exists outside ourselves.  The post after that explains how essentially any two people can experience a form of telepathy in just minutes, and possibly perceive others as they appear in different incarnations.

Here is a little “music video” I made that talks about the material presented on this page.
